New Wool

New wool (also called ‘virgin wool’) is new wool from sheep. Unlike recovered wool fibres which have been recycled to make new yarns and fabrics, it has not been previously used, which therefore means the wool has not sustained any damage.

Properties and qualities

New wool fibres are strong, fine and durable. Items made from new wool are subsequently warm, insulating and long-lasting.

How does it feel?

New wool is a soft material, but not as soft as alpaca wool or cashmere.

We recommend dry cleaning new wool items. However, it is also possible to wash new wool articles on a delicate cycle with a detergent specific for wool. For best results, refer to the care instructions on your new wool product.
