The blanket coat: four ways to wear it

Trying out your favourite blanket as daywear went from slothful to stylish this February, as Burberry Prorsum debuted their coveted blanket poncho on the catwalk. While the fashion house’s interpretation is inspired by traditional equestrian blankets, this trend works equally well with block colours and eye-catching patterns. We tested wearability and warmth factor with our latest arrivals and bestsellers on the streets of Berlin.

Foligno Cashmere Blanket

Not coping with the cold? Try cloaking yourself in cashmere. With its sophisticated monochrome design, our Foligno Cashmere Blanket works exceptionally well as a cape. The soft cashmere drapes beautifully while the contrasting orange border frames the body along the waistline and wrists.

Chivay Alpaca Blanket

A hypo-allergenic fibre, alpaca wool is the ultimate addition to your wardrobe due to its softness against skin. The wool is lightweight, making it easy to fashion into a variety of shapes – you can go from poncho to oversized scarf (pictured) with a few simple twists around the shoulders or neck. A true all-rounder, our reversible Chivay makes it possible for you can choose from camel or brown depending on your mood – or try folding, bunching and pinning the fabric in different ways to create a border and show the different colours at the same time.

Altea Merino Blanket

Dreaming about a coat of many colours? Our Altea Merino Blanket combines blue and camel in a regal herringbone design – a classic winter coat pattern reinterpreted in bold shades to brighten drab days. With its natural elasticity, merino wool can be stretched without losing its shape. Use a vintage brooch to fasten the two sides together at the chest for a draped look that keeps your hands free.

Uyuni Cashmere Blanket

Can’t decide between a scarf or a cape? Grace the streets in our sumptuously soft Uyuni Cashmere Blanket and enjoy the best of both looks. This lightweight design is lengthy enough to wrap around around your neck, with the excess draped across your back to show off the gorgeous diamond weave and eyelash fringe.
